The Puget Sound

When Dad was here, we visited the Puget Sound in Union. It's a short drive from Shelton.
Does it look like Dad is struggling to hold me?

Those are oyster shells and notice the big rocks? We have rocky beaches in Washington. It's a little different from the sandy beaches in Virginia and Charleston.

My parents' friend is visiting Twanoh State Park with us. We enjoyed our time outside!

Mom's Han-bok

Mom dressed me up in her old han-bok that she wore at her Dol (first birthday) 30 years ago (not 31)! I wore way too many dresses this past week and I'm a little over it as you can see. =/

My First Birthday Party!

Hello, everyone! We just celebrated my first birthday at Grandma and Grandpa's house in Shelton, Washington and it was a lot of fun! (My actual birthday is July 24th, but it worked out to have it a bit on the earlier side.) Mom and I are opening gifts here. We are opening gifts from Miss Kristin. Thank you for the wonderful books!

Emily is helping us open gifts here. Mom is holding up a really cool shirt from Mr. Lee and Miss Sachi. It says "Columbia City Seattle, Wa." on it. I am definitely going to show it off in Richmond!

Here is Dad, Mom with me, Grandma and Grandpa all standing in front of the table set traditionally Korean with fruits and rice cakes. I'm wearing a Korean dress called a han-bok.

Hee hee hee!!! Grandma and I are both in our hanboks. (Someone said something funny and I am laughing.)

I am wearing my party dress now.

Thanks to everyone that came to my birthday party! We all had a great time and it was great to meet and see many folks. The party continued on for Grandma and Grandpa. Their friends all stayed overnight and they were up late laughing, singing Karaoke, and having a great time!

The Outer Banks!

We spent a long weekend at the Outer Banks in North Carolina at JoJo's son Todd and his wife Anna's beach house. They have 3 daughters; Lauren who turned 7 on 7-7, Vivian, and Kendall. Their cousins Caroline, Duke, Cate and their parents Mr. Anthony and Miss Patty were there as well. It was great to be around so many kids! I loved playing with the girls and following them around. Papa is rockin' out to Guitar Hero! Papa is so hip!

Dad is playing Guitar Hero with me on his lap. He is teaching me some new chords. Look! It's Star Power time!
Dad and I talked about joining a band and touring the country. Wouldn't that be fun?
Here we are in our beach get-up. Check out Dad's nerdy hat!

The beach was awesome. I'm learning that moving around in sand is a little tough. I'm wearing a UV protectant suit.

Everything tasted nice and salty. I'm digging around for shells! At night, we saw lots of ghost crabs running around!
Mom fed me yogurt and it got everywhere. Dad is trying to wash it off, but I'm not having it.

Papa, Dad, and I are checking out the water. It was pretty chilly. Dad took me out one early morning to the beach for a walk and we saw baby dolphins swimming!

Dad and I are checking out the waves. There were a good number of surfers out one day. I could really get used to the beach life!

Dad is spreading his nerdiness onto me now. We made sure to slather on the sunscreen and wear our hats!

Papa playing Guitar Hero next to Dad. Apparently it's a pretty addicting game. On the couch is Cate, Kendall and Anna.

JoJo got a tie-dye kit and here we are getting ready to dye our shirts! Here's Cate, Vivian, Lauren, Caroline, Miss Patty, and Duke. The shirts turned out really well! Do you like the plastic garbage bag shirts? We're starting a new trend.
Dad and I are swinging away on the porch. The beach house had these really cool swing chairs.

Dad and Papa are in the kitchen making us all breakfast. We had pancakes, bacon, and sausages. It was yummy!
Hello, Dahhling! I tried on Kendall's cute ladybug sunglasses.

Here is Mr. Anthony, JoJo, Papa, Miss Anna and Cate catching some rays. We grilled hot dogs and made 'smores for the 4th of July on the beach. We had a great time!

There's nothing like a nap on the beach in the shade with the wind blowing in your hair. It was one of the best naps ever!

Lauren and I are taking a break in our beach chairs. (Do my feet look really big or is it the angle of the camera?)

Hey, Papa! Everyone's watching sports, but I'm too busy to sit still.

Here is Todd with JoJo in the kitchen. JoJo looks really happy! JoJo has lots of energy and is always on the go. She is a lot of fun to be around!

I made a new friend! This is Piper. She is 13 years old and she is the sweetest dog. I crawled on her, poked her eye several times (oops), and played with her paws and Piper did not mind one bit. She stayed in place and let me play with her as much as I wanted. Wow!

The Joneses are in town!

Greetings! Our friends the Joneses from Charleston came in to visit today! We are enjoying dinner at a neighborhood restaurant called Northside Grille. (I'm in the middle of telling a story here.)
Here is Miss Olivia playing with me. She is very good with babies! I enjoyed playing with Miss Olivia! She carried me around a lot today! Yippee!
Here is Miss Olivia with her son Jack. He is like soooo cute!

Mr. Robert is also in the middle of telling a story to Dad. See how animated he is with this arms way up high? Whoa!

Here I am pulling myself up and using Jack for help. I had lots of fun watching Jack do karate in the kitchen. I was giggling away! Hiiiyyyyyah!
Wow, Jack is so strong! (Nevermind the spillage of my belly.) =)

Baby Bunny

Several days ago, we spotted a very teeny tiny baby bunny in our backyard. She is very cute! She hangs out in the grass for most of the day where we can enjoy watching her. She loves eating clover and doesn't seem afraid of us at all. We hope that she is safe and grows up healthy! Long live the Bunny!!!
After Mom took the picture of the bunny, she decided to swing the camera out and take a picture of me. A little too far to the left, but a good shot nonetheless, wouldn't you say? =) We've got a very busy week ahead of us. We have some friends visiting us tomorrow from Charleston, then we are headed to Corolla Beach, North Carolina for the 4th of July to see Papa, then we are going to fly to Seattle/Shelton to visit Grandma and Grandpa and celebrate my 1st Birthday there! I'll make sure Mom takes lots of pictures of our journeys! Have a Happy 4th everyone!

Baby Burrito

Dad bathes me nightly and afterwards, wraps me up really tightly and makes a baby burrito out of me. Mom was trying to take a picture, but I purposely kept blinking my eyes. I'm so funny!
